Wartono's grave lies beside those of his parents, who had passed away several years before.
Cirebon (ANTARA) - Wartono, an Indonesian, who died in a bridge collapse incident in Nanfangao, Taiwan, was buried in his hometown burial complex in Cirebon District, West Java, on Friday at about 9 a.m. local time.

Wartono's grave lies beside those of his parents, who had passed away several years ago, Taman, his brother, stated.

The corpse arrived at the funeral home from Taiwan on Thursday night and was received by the family along with Cirebon officials.

"His body arrived here at around 7:30 p.m. local time and was also handed over by the government officials," Taman stated.

While accompanying the corpse to be delivered to his home, the officials of several government agencies, including the National Agency for the Protection and Placement of International Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ensured to support the processing of Wartono's rights.

"They appealed to the family to prepare all necessary documents, while the rest will be proceeded by them, though it is not clear when the due date is," Taman stated.

Insurance from the company that had sent Wartono to Taiwan can no longer be claimed since he had worked for over three years and had become an independent migrant worker.

Wartono is one of the three Indonesians, who had fallen victim to the incident that took place on Tuesday, October 1. He worked as a fishing ship crew member since 2016 and was making preparations for fishing when the incident took place.
