Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's industrial service sector has the potential to boost competitiveness of the domestic industry, Head of Industry Research and Development of the Industry Ministry Ngakan Timur Antara stated.

"If we can optimize the role of this industrial service sector, then we can improve product competitiveness. For instance, in case the service provider can offer a cheaper price, it will reduce the production cost," Antara noted here on Tuesday.

Antara made his statement at the opening of Industrial Service Exhibition held at the ministry on October 29-31, 2019.

The industrial service sector has contributed four to five percent to the country's gross domestic product (GDP), while the manufacturing sector contributed 19 percent to the GDP.

The ministry has adopted some measures to boost competitiveness of the industrial service sector, so it could further enhance product competitiveness with its lower price, he explained.

The industrial service sector encompasses logistical service, research and development, promotion, and certification of industrial profession.

Development of human resources in the sector also holds significance through vocational schools that are aligned with requirements and developments of the industry, Antara stated. Related news: Industrial sector contributes 19.52 percent to economic growth
