Signing international trade agreements that can help boost exports will be crucial to helping cope with recession that might occur in 2020, Jokowi remarked at a limited cabinet meeting held at the Presidential Office here on Wednesday.
He affirmed that economic recession might occur next year, and increasing export and investment were the key precautionary measures against the tough situation.
Jokowi highlighted the fact that Indonesia had completed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Australia.
"This should be followed (by the signing of agreements) with other countries. I think it is important to complete (such agreements) soon, and in late 2020, (everything) can be done," he stated.
He affirmed that the negotiation team should be fixed and not be subject to change.
An agreement with the European Union should also be completed and implemented to boost exports.
He also drew attention to the importance of completing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Partnership (RCEP) agreements with ASEAN member nations plus six other countries.
"They include India, China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand," he stated.
