Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi met with Singapore State Minister for Human Resources Affairs Zaky Mohammad to discuss ways to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources.

The bilateral meeting between the two ministers took place on the sidelines of the 12th Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Thursday, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a written statement released on Friday.

At the meeting Minister Retno Marsudi praised the Singapore government for its consistency to send high-ranking officials to take part in BDF every year.

At the BDF this time, Minister Zaky Mohammad served as a speaker during a panel discussion themed "Moving Towards Inclusive State Building".

During the meeting with Zaky Mohammad who has a portfolio for national planning and manpower, Retno Marsudi offered wider cooperation to develop human resources.

She further lauded Singapore's initiatives to provide wider opportunities to Indonesia's skilled workers to take internship in Singapore.

The internship will be able to improve the managerial outlook and skill of Indonesian human resources. One of the areas of cooperation between the two neighboring countries in the future will be related to vocational training.

In addition, the two governments of the two countries are also committed to implementing various agreements signed by the leaders of the two countries during the Leaders' Retreat held in Singapore in November 2019.

Promoting the human resources tops the list of the Indonesian government's priorities under the leadership of President Joko Widodo.

President Joko Widodo said earlier that Indonesia may become a developed nation if it focuses on improving the quality of human resources.
