Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received a visit from Masayoshi Son, the president of Softbank, to explore potential areas for cooperation.

"We discussed good opportunities concerning new projects offered by Mr President," Son remarked after meeting President Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace here on Friday.

The Softbank CEO voiced interest in forging cooperation with Indonesia.

During the meeting, Jokowi went into the finer details of highlighting the background of Jakarta.

Jakarta, with a population of some 10 million people, spans an area of 66 thousand hectares, while the next capital city, planned to be built in East Kalimantan, will cover 256 thousand hectares, Jokowi noted.

Son remarked following the closed-door meeting with Jokowi that Jakarta, as Indonesia's capital city, had a long-standing history of successes and issues that need to be tackled. Related news: WeWork closes $6 billion investment from SoftBank
