Head of the Kudus Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Bergas Catur Sasi Penanggungan stated here on Tuesday that torrential rains on late Monday (Jan 13) had caused a landslide in the villages of Kajar, Ternadi, Japan, Dukuhwaringin, Glagah Kulon, and Colo at 6 a.m. local time on Tuesday.
In Kajar Village, the landslide did not cause damage to residential areas but damaged some houses and severed road access in Ternadi Village.
"Some houses were hit by the landslide. It also cut road access in the village," Penanggungan stated.
A landslide has also cut road access in the villages of Japan, Dukuhwaringin, and Glagah Kulon.
No casualty was reported in the disaster.
On Sunday (Jan 5), two houses were damaged by a landslide in Rahtawu Village of Gebog Sub-district in Kudus.
Penanggungan has appealed to the public, particularly those living in areas prone to flood and landslide, to remain vigilant during the rainy season.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has recently cautioned people over the potential of flood and landslide owing to extreme weather during January to February.
Earlier, a landslide, triggered by torrential rains, killed a 30-year-old woman in Kedung Badak, Bogor City, West Java, and damaged two houses located under a cliff in Kedung Badak
