We will launch the card starting from Greater Jakarta. After we get the feedback, we can make improvements and expand it to other regionsJakarta (ANTARA) - The government has planned to launch the Pre-Employment Card in April, starting from Greater Jakarta (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) and West Java Province, Chief of the Presidential Staff Moeldoko stated.
"We will launch the card starting from Greater Jakarta. After we get the feedback, we can make improvements and expand it to other regions," Moeldoko noted during a seminar on pre-employment card here on Tuesday.
According to Moeldoko, the two regions had the largest number of job seekers.
"The progress would be fast. Firstly, it will be distributed in Greater Jakarta and West Java," he stated.
Distribution of the card would not be withheld, pending approval of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation, but it would require a presidential regulation.
"As soon as possible, this February, the presidential regulation will be issued. We make preparations in March, and by April, the card can be launched," he elaborated.
Moeldoko admitted that the card would not guarantee that all job seekers in the regions, reaching two million, could be absorbed, as the government could not control the market.
However, the government will ensure that job seekers have the capability and skills required by the business world.
The government has targeted to provide job training to two million beneficiaries of the Pre-Employment Card worth Rp3-7 million each, with a total budget of Rp10 trillion in 2020.
They will also receive certificates after completing the training and pass the various test mechanisms.
These certificates of competency can be used by job seekers, who receive pre-employment card programs to obtain jobs according to their competencies. Related news: Omnibus Law may hurt domestic workers: labor union
