Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has given orders to control the return flow of Eid-al-Fitr holiday revelers to prevent a second wave of COVID-19 transmission.

"It is important for us to control the return flow of holiday revelers as part of the efforts to prevent the mutual spread of the virus that will potentially lead to a second wave," he remarked during a limited meeting on the accelerated handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The president stressed on the need to control the return flow, especially for those to Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

The COVID-19 reproduction score (RO) in Jakarta, currently below one, must be curbed further, he emphasized.

Moreover, Jakarta, West Java, and Tangerang have been designated to apply a new normal order to ensure they stay safe and productive.

Those entering or exiting Jakarta are required to hold an exit and entry permit (SIKM) in accordance with Governor Regulation No. 47 of 2020 on restriction on exit from and entry to Jakarta to stem the spread of COVID-19.

A joint team of the Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police (Polri), Transportation Office, and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) will check all people intending to enter Jakarta, including passengers of buses that pass the check posts.

"Security personnel have guarded the entry points. Those, who managed to pass the check posts and reach the bus terminal, will be returned to their cities of origin if they are unable to present the SKIM," head of the Pulo Gebang integrated terminal Bernard Pasaribu stated here on Tuesday.

At least 193 people arrived at the Pulo Gebang bus terminal on May 9-24 when it resumed operations after being closed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

No further details were available on the number of passengers denied entry to Jakarta through the Pulo Gebang Terminal.
