We have put forth a suggestion on (the development of) a health service area
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir has planned to build a health service area in order to bring about improvements in the country's health sector.

"We have put forth a suggestion on (the development of) a health service area," Thohir remarked during the HSBC Economic Forum here on Wednesday.

The health service area will bring together researchers, physicians, and hospitals to partner with state-owned enterprises in developing the national health sector.

Indonesia’s health sector has a potential market, as several people in the country prefer to avail health services at overseas facilities.

"If this can be materialized, it will become a remarkable market. Many people from the middle to upper class society in Indonesia have sought health services abroad," he pointed out.

The government will open up opportunities for domestic and foreign investors to partake in development of the health service area.

"We also open up the opportunity for partnership with both foreign and local investors. We have a huge market," he remarked.

Thohir also spoke of the government's plan to build a paracetamol plant, as the country continues to import the pain reliever drug.

"To reduce imports of the medicine, we will build a factory to produce paracetamol that is currently still imported," he added.
