Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) ended higher on Thursday after the release of the September 2020 inflation data earlier in the day.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) closed 100.06 points higher, or up 2.05 percent, at 4,970.09, while the index of the 45 most liquid stocks (LQ45) rose 23.9 points, or 3.24 percent, to 761.05.

"When it comes to the Indonesian inflation data, the market appeared to better appreciate the improving performance of the year-on-year inflation rate to 1.42 percent, from 1.32 percent a month earlier," Bina Artha Sekuritas analyst M. Nafan Aji Gusta noted on Thursday.

The market also lauded the increasingly positive trend of clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine and that the mass vaccination could be expedited in future.

"The market also praised the US government's commitment to launching a stimulus program. The other sentiment arose from the expectation of manufacturing or service PMI (purchasing managers' index) performance of developed nations remaining expansive," he noted.

After opening higher, the IHSG remained in the green zone until the close of trade.

Stocks in all sectors rose, led by the infrastructure sector, climbing 4.97 percent, followed by the miscellaneous industry sector and the financial sector, rising 2.8 percent and 2.66 percent, respectively.

Thursday's trade posted net foreign sales of Rp9.33 billion.
