Jakarta (ANTARA) - COVID-19 vaccination program, Job Creation Law, import duty reduction agreement on Indonesian export products to the US, and establishment of the Indonesia Investment Authority will expedite economic recovery in 2021, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated.

With several factors driving economic recovery, Jokowi expressed optimism at a presentation of the Indonesian Economic Outlook in Jakarta, Tuesday, that Indonesia would soon revive, and the economy would veer toward recovery.

"In such a pandemic situation, we must be able to move quickly and strengthen cooperation and synergy. I am optimistic that we would rise, and our economy would return to normal," the president stated.

The head of state affirmed that the COVID-19 vaccination program, to commence in early 2021, will boost public confidence in the recovery process from the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the people will regain a sense of security and will boost household consumption.

The president also believes that the flow of investment will be higher owing to the implementation of the Job Creation Law. Until the end of 2020, export performance had improved. Moreover, in 2021, export performance will also increase again, among others, due to the import duty relief for Indonesian exports to the US after the Generalized System Preferences cooperation was extended.

The head of state also expounded that Indonesia will have an investment manager or the Indonesia Investment Authority that works akin to a Sovereign Wealth Fund. This institution will manage sources of development financing based on equity and not loans.

"This will nourish our economy, our state-owned enterprises, especially in the infrastructure sector and in the energy sector," he explained.

Currently, the head of state spoke of several countries have expressed interest in cooperating with Indonesian investment management institutions, including the United States, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Canada.

The president vowed that the good policies applied in 2020 will be continued in 2021, especially those in the health sector for handling COVID-19, and also policies for social protection assistance for the people. Related news: Indonesia's economy has passed lowest point: President
