"Two (bridges) were completely broken, and one was damaged," Manaor Silalahi, secretary of the Simalungun Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), stated here on Tuesday.
The two broken bridges are respectively located in the Nagori Janggir Leto Village and Rawang Pardomuan Nauli Village. The damaged bridge is located in Nagori Parsaguan Village.
Silalahi remarked that the local authorities will immediately conduct repairs on the bridges, while an alternative road was being readied to enable local villagers to go about their routine activities.
The road between Nagori Simpang Raya and Parsaguan Panei Tongah is still traversable by two-wheeled vehicles.
Meanwhile, death toll in West Java's landslides that hit Cihanjuang Village, Cimanggung Sub-district, Sumedang District, West Java Province, on Saturday, had reached 16, as rescuers found three other bodies during search efforts on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
Bandung's Search and Rescue (SAR) Agency Head Deden Ridwansyah has projected a steady rise in the death toll as a joint team of SAR workers is making sustained efforts to locate 23 other residents, who are still missing.
"The final death toll is subject to change. It depends on reports from local communities or families of the victims," he remarked, adding that two backhoes and several other SAR equipment were being deployed in the SAR operation.
