"This morning, 28 people have been evacuated by the Jakarta Damkar personnel from Sector IX of Pasar Minggu. They comprise 20 adults, seven children, and one toddler," Jakarta Damkar wrote on its Instagram account @humasjakfire on Monday.
Firefighters began evacuating residents at around 3 a.m. local time, as floodwaters continued to rise in the East Pejaten area while the Cilwiung River overflowed its bank.
The evacuees were temporarily accommodated at the Al Makmur Mosque, Pejaten.

Damkar rescue personnel remained on standby at the location and advised the public to evacuate immediately.
