Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo bore witness to the officiating ceremony of Andi Samsan Nganro as deputy chief justice for the judicial division held at the State Palace in Jakarta, Monday.

Nganro’s appointment aligns with Presidential Decree Number 22 P of 2021 on the Respectful Dismissal of the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Appointment of the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Judicial Affairs.

"As per the time of when the oath of office was taken and vows were said, marks the appointment of Dr. H Andi Samsan Nganro to the position of deputy chief justice of the Supreme Court for Judicial Affairs," Deputy of Apparatuses' Administration at the Ministry of State Secretariat Nanik Purwanti stated during the ceremony.

Presidential Decree Number 22 P of 2021 was stipulated in Jakarta on February 10, 2021.

After reading the contents of the Presidential Decree, Samsan then took the oath of office in the presence of President Joko Widodo.

"In the name of God, I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in the judicial sector as well as possible and fairly, upholding the 1945 Indonesian Constitution and carry out all laws and regulations according to the 1945 Indonesian Constitution and serve the country and nation," he stated.

The oath-of-office ceremony then concluded with the Indonesia Raya National Anthem and congratulatory greetings to Nganro.

Nganro was elected as deputy chief justice of the Supreme Court for Judicial Affairs at the Special Plenary Session of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

He was voted for the position after securing 20 votes and outperforming other candidates: Zahrul Rabain, who received 17 votes, and Amran Suadi, who bagged three votes.

Prior to being appointed as deputy chief justice in the judicial division, Nganro had served as spokesperson to the Supreme Court.
