Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) evacuated three people trapped in their flooded home in Joglo, West Jakarta, on Saturday.

"The three evacuated residents comprised parents and their two-year-old child," Commander of Satpol PP in Kembangan Sub-district Sumardi Siringoringo revealed.

The family members was evacuated to their parental house in neighborhood unit (RT 01/06) in Joglo, he remarked.

Satpol PP also evacuated two people from their flooded home in the Joglo Baru housing complex at 11 a.m. local time on Saturday. They later took refuge in their relatives' house.

Floods swamped the area, with waters reaching 50-100 centimeters deep, due to heavy rains lashing overnight that caused the local river to overflow its bank.

Since 3 a.m. local time on Saturday, the Satpol PP personnel deployed an inflatable boat to evacuate residents living on Rudal Raya Street in Joglo to higher ground.
