"The vaccination of athletes is important. It is also a priority, especially for those, who will take part in several events, both domestic and global. Hence, we have to prepare them, so that they are physically fit and do not miss the competitions owing to being exposed to COVID-19," the vice president stated while witnessing an inaugural vaccination campaign for athletes, coaches, and support staff at Istora Senayan here on Friday.
Amin is optimistic that athletes participating in the inaugural vaccination are those who are physically strong and healthy, so that it will inspire other people to be vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali remarked that his ministry had put a request with the Ministry of Health for five thousand doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for national athletes.
"With regard to the allocation of vaccines, we have initially planned for five thousand. However, if it is not sufficient, we will report it to the health minister. Athletes to participate in the National Sports Week, PON XX in Papua, will also be covered," Amali stated.
In the initial stage, the vaccination jab will be administered to athletes residing in Jakarta to be followed by athletes living in the regions since most of them return to their hometowns owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, he remarked.
