Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale rattled North Sumatra's West Nias on Monday night, but no tsunami warning was issued.

The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 7.21 p.m. local time, was located 120 kilometers southwest of West Nias, or 130 kilometers southwest of South Nias, at a depth of 12 kilometers, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Office in Medan, North Sumatra, informed.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damages caused by the quake.

An earthquake measuring 5.1 in magnitude is considered moderate and capable of causing considerable damage. (INE)
