"To make use of the scientific and technological progress, particularly the industry 4.0, Pancasila must serve as a foundation for the development of science and technology that are Indonesian-oriented."
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has urged the Indonesian nation to increase knowledge of the values of the Pancasila state ideology through extraordinary ways.

"Our fellow countrymen and countrywomen, to face all these, to broaden and deepen the knowledge of Pancasila values, we cannot use ordinary ways but extraordinary ways," Jokowi emphasized at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Tuesday.

The president, dressed in traditional attire from Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, comprising a black jacket, green woven sarong, and head cover, made the remarks while addressing a ceremony marking the birth of Pancasila.

The ceremony was held in a "hybrid" manner in which the president followed it from the Bogor Presidential Palace, while troops attended it in the yard of Pancasila Building in the Foreign Ministry compounds in Jakarta, and top state officials partook in it from their offices.

"To make use of the scientific and technological progress, particularly the industry 4.0, Pancasila must serve as a foundation for the development of science and technology that are Indonesian-oriented," he affirmed.

Jokowi noted that developments in science and technology also had an impact on the landscape of technological constellation.

"The industrial revolution 4.0 has offered a variety of facilities to hold dialog, conduct interactions, and engage in organizations on the international scale," he stated.

As 5G connectivity reaches worldwide, international interactions have increasingly become easier and faster, the president pointed out.

"International radical ideologies have capitalized on the facilities to penetrate all areas, all classes, and all age groups in Indonesia, regardless of the place and time," he stated.

Hence, Pancasila's task has increasingly become formidable.

"What makes us remain vigilant is the increasing rivalries and competition, including those related to inter-views, inter-values, and inter-ideologies," he remarked.

Attendees at the ceremony comprised Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo, who read out the Pancasila text at the ceremony, and Chief of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani, who read out the preamble of the 1945 Constitution.
