As stated by the Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan, this virus does not discriminate between humans. It is important for us to ensure collaboration, concern, and command in implementing strategies to overcome COVID-19
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Hidayat Nur Wahid, popularly known as HNW, requested all parties to work closely together to surmount over the COVID-19 pandemic.

HNW also invited all parties to bolster vaccination programs for the community and edify citizens in the context of implementing emergency public activity restrictions (PPKM).

"As stated by the Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan, this virus does not discriminate between humans. It is important for us to ensure collaboration, concern, and command in implementing strategies to overcome COVID-19," HNW noted in a statement in Jakarta, Friday.

HNW made the statement during a virtual visit to the electoral district (Dapil) at the state junior high school SMPN 216 in Senen, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (July 8).

HNW undertook the visit to SMPN 216 in the context of implementing a vaccination cooperation between HNW, as members of the House of Representatives (DPR) for the electoral districts (dapil) Jakarta II, member of Commission A of the Jakarta Regional Council (DPRD) from the PKS faction Israyani, Central Jakarta Mayor Dhany Sukma, the Indonesian Nurses Association (PPNI), and health centers located in the neighborhoods of Senen, Kemayoran, Tanah Abang, and Sawah Besar.

The vaccination is intended for 1,200 residents in four sub-districts in Central Jakarta.

HNW has lauded the participating health workers, with technical support valued at over Rp50 million.

Cooperation in conducting vaccination was a crucial activity in dealing with the spread of the delta variant of COVID-19, according to HNW.

“Praise be to God, this vaccination can run well owing to the sound cooperation among the House of Representatives, Jakarta Regional Council (DPRD), mayor of Central Jakarta, and the PPNI. We are grateful for this good form of cooperation between the executive and the legislative, citizens and the government, as well as health workers and the community," he affirmed.

HNW also drew attention to the dangers arising from the lack of unity in overcoming the pandemic, thereby resulting in public apathy and unwillingness to help overcome the pandemic.

In fact, HNW believes that it triggers anxiety and confusion that is counterproductive to the immunity of citizens, thereby increasing their susceptibility to contracting COVID-19.

Furthermore, HNW reminded the government to be prudent in implementing Emergency PPKM, such as humanizing citizens, especially the underprivileged.

He sought a persuasive and humane approach to enforce the Emergency PPKM rules.

Consequently, the community would be able to better adhere to the Emergency PPKM regulations in an orderly manner.
