"Regarding data security in PeduliLindungi, the government guarantees data security, and currently, data storage is carried out by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics with data security handling assisted by Indonesia's Cyber and Crypto Agency," he said at an online press conference monitored here on Monday.
Pandjaitan said the government would continue to take corrective steps to improve people's experience in using the PeduliLindungi app.

As of September 5, 2021, the number of people who had used PeduliLindungi in public spaces, such as shopping centers, industry, sports, among others, had reached 20.9 million, he noted.
Of the 20.9 million users, 761 thousand were flagged in the red category and therefore, were not allowed to enter or perform activities in public places by the system, the minister informed. The app also detected 1,603 people with positive status and close contacts trying to carry out public activities, he said.
"In the future, the government will take action against people who fall under the PeduliLindungi black criteria and are still trying to carry out activities in public areas by bringing them to isolation centers. This will be done to protect us all. Otherwise, they will cause a new cluster," Pandjaitan said.
He also appealed to the public to perform activities in places that already use the PeduliLindungi application to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19.
He said the PeduliLindungi system would be the main integrator of the three pandemic control strategies: rapid increase in vaccination coverage for all Indonesians, good testing-tracing-treatment (3T), and high health protocol compliance.
