Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - Palangka Raya Mayor Fairid Naparin confirmed that 78.93 percent of the city's population had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination.

"A total of 176,335 people out of the targeted 223,417 for vaccination had received the first dose (of vaccine). This covers 78.93 percent of the vaccine target," he noted on Thursday.

On the other hand, 57.70 percent, or 128,919 people, had received the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination.

In order to boost the COVID-19 vaccination rate, the Palangka Raya City collaborates with some stakeholders to expedite vaccinations that are hosted by health service centers and other parties.

Data from the Palangka Raya COVID-19 Task Force shows that 223,417 vaccine targets are divided into five categories, comprising 3,512 health human resources, 14,287 elderly, 21,920 from public services, 154,647 members of the general public, and 29,051 teenagers.

The data also showed that 5,246 people had received the first dose of vaccine, 5,046 people had completed the second dose of vaccine, while 3,558 health workers had received the booster vaccine.

Among the elderly, 7,950 people had received the first dose of vaccine, and 6,783 had completed the second vaccine. As for the target of public services, 52,633 people had been vaccinated with the first dose, and 46,181 people had received the second dose.

Some 89,148 members of the general public were administered the first dose, and 57,087 people had received the complete dose. Lastly, some 21,357 teenagers were vaccinated with the first dose, while 13,831 teenagers had completed the second dose of vaccine.

Naparin also called on all to always apply COVID-19 health protocols in a bid to minimize the potential as well as stem the spread of COVID-19 that is unlikely to end anytime soon.

Other efforts by the Palangka Raya city government to stem the spread of COVID-19, through its task force team are underway, ranging from expediting dissemination of information, early detection, and security, to case handling.

The mayor stated that currently, cases of COVID-19 in city had continued to decline since the end of last October. As the result, the Palangka Raya city government will impose Level 2 Community Activity Restrictions until Nov 8.
