Bandar Lampung (ANTARA) - Head of the Lampung Regional Police Inspector General Hendro Sugiatno hosted a Mural Festival at the Way Halim Sports Center, here on Saturday, to support young artists.

"We will conduct this festival until afternoon, with 20 participants. We also send one person to Jakarta to take part in the national festival," he said.

This event was a form of their support and encouragement for the aspirations and artistic expressions of young people in Lampung, he affirmed. He noted that the festival was expected to channel artistic talents of youngsters, in particular.

Sugiatno noted that further editions of the festival will continue to be held in order to explore the talent of young people in Lampung. "This will not be the last, and hopefully, in future, it will continue again," he stated.

Chairman of the Lampung Mural Painters Association, M. Yudi, informed that the event bore the theme of completing vaccines in Indonesia, particularly the government's efforts to expedite inoculation of its people. The mural festival committee will rate the artworks based on the theme, message, and ideas.

"We will see from the technical side, be it the image, color, and message in the picture. This festival will (offer a platform for people to) compete for emerging as the first, second, and third place winners, whose names will be announced this afternoon," he stated.

Usman, one of the participants at the mural festival, stated that he took part in the competition to pass on his talents.

"(Whether or not we are) optimistic, every competition is bound to have its winners and losers. The most important aspect for us is to continue to be enthusiastic to create art," he affirmed.
