We have decided to construct the rail line in parallel with the toll road to make the land acquisition process more effective, as one land strip would accommodate both the railway and the toll roadBandung, West Java (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil confirmed that Patimban Port in Subang District would be accessible from Cipali (Cikopo-Palimanan) toll road by 2023, thereby boosting cargo movement to and from the port for West Java's industries.
"The Patimban Port toll access will be constructed in 2022 and be ready in 2023 and is planned to have a length of 37 km. The access road will be connected to the Cipali toll road," Kamil stated at a press conference here on Friday.
While the regional authority is expediting the toll road's construction that started from the 89-km point of the Cipali toll road to the port, a rail line to Patimban Port will also be developed parallel to the toll road, he noted.
"We have decided to construct the rail line in parallel with the toll road to make the land acquisition process more effective, as one land strip would accommodate both the railway and the toll road," Kamil stated.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated that the ministry had continued to coordinate with relevant authorities to plan and complete the designated target for optimizing the operations of Patimban Port.
The ministry has coordinated with authorities to ready export activities, complete the toll road project, and also secure the commitment of regional authorities to enhance port activities, Pandjaitan remarked.
"We are optimistic that the cargo movement in Tanjung Priok would be reduced, as local industries would utilize Patimban Port that has closer sea access," the coordinating minister stated.

Patimban Port is expected to initiate the growth of a new metropolitan area in West Java, particularly when the regional authority is currently developing the Rebana Metropolitan area within reach of Patimban Port, he affirmed.
Pandjaitan expressed optimism that the port would attract investors to West Java and contribute to economic growth in the province.
"The port will create 4.3 million new job opportunities for 15 years ahead and would be beneficial for national economic growth," the coordinating minister remarked.
Concurring with Pandjaitan, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi informed that Patimban Port will reduce logistics costs that burdened industries owing to proximity to the port to facilitate trade.

Patimban Port will also relieve cargo movement in Jakarta and ensure maritime safety, especially safety for gas exploration projects in the region, he remarked.
The ministry will continue to cooperate with stakeholders, such as the West Java authority, to assist in the construction of supporting infrastructures, Sumadi stated.
"Governor Kamil earlier informed us that the Patimban toll road access would be ready by 2023," the minister noted.
