Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of State-Owned Enterprises' (SOEs) Srikandi (SOEs' women community), Tina T. Kemala Intan, has said that she will continue to push for more women employees reaching director positions.

"This year, the total percentage (of female directors) is 15 percent. We will continue until it reaches 25 percent," she affirmed at a webinar originating from here on Tuesday.

"And we hope that it could get to 30 percent in the next (few) years to match the global standard," she said.

According to Intan, gender diversity in director positions could improve companies' performance from 20 to 50 percent.

To achieve this end, SOEs Srikandi is collaborating with many parties, such as by holding the Girls Take Over program wherein female university students took over a strategic role in SOEs for one day, she said.

"Almost seven thousand students were interested in Girls Take Over that we carried out. Before, the number was 600," she highlighted.

"This shows that Indonesian women are becoming more aware of their role and have the desire to achieve their dream," she remarked.

SOEs Srikandi will not only focus on empowering women in SOEs, but also women-owned micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), she said.

Women are not only being encouraged to become workers, but also to have their own independent business that is beneficial for others, she added.

However, in the push for gender diversity, women do not need to be given exclusive or special treatment, she said.

However, it needs to be ensured that women in SOEs do not experience discrimination or harassment in any form, she added.

"Women should be encouraged to develop their skills that match with the trend and need in the future," she said.

Currently, SOEs Srikandi is focusing on discussions surrounding mental health and wellness so that employees can not only improve their technical expertise, but also their soft skills and leadership, she informed.

"Amid this condition, we found many new things. We are demanded to be more creative in handling uncertain conditions. I hope that women and men can support each other," Intan remarked. (
