They will receive vaccination in schools, Puskesmas (public health centers), hospitals, and vaccination centers held in the community.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, highlighted his target to offer the COVID-19 vaccination service to 1.1 million children in the age group of six to 11 years at Jakarta's schools or other vaccination centers.
"The number of children aged 6 to 11 years that are registered in the education database reaches 1.1 million," Baswedan noted here on Tuesday.
"They will receive vaccination in schools, Puskesmas (public health centers), hospitals, and vaccination centers held in the community," he remarked.
The COVID-19 vaccination for children in the age bracket of six to 11 years in the capital city commenced simultaneously on Tuesday with the unveiling event for children's vaccination at Cempaka Putih Timur 03 Elementary School in Central Jakarta, he said.
Vaccine services for children are available in schools, hospitals, and vaccination centers held in the community and institutions.
With the unveiling of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6 to 11 years, at least 10 thousand children will receive the first vaccination dose.
Baswedan expects that parents will be able to convince and encourage their children in that age bracket to visit vaccine facilities.
Meanwhile, Vice Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono stated that COVID-19 vaccination for children will be continued until it reaches the rate for adults.
"Our current target is not herd immunity, but herd population to reach 70 percent, and now, President Jokowi has targeted vaccination to reach 70 percent by the end of the year," he noted.
"Currently, it has reached 70.4 percent," he stated.
Earlier, Baswedan, along with other officials, such as Harbuwono, surveyed the COVID-19 vaccination activity for children in the age bracket of six to 11 years at the Cempaka Putih Timur 03 Elementary School.
"You have a large body. Be strong okay," Baswedan told one of the students from Cempaka Putih Timur.
