The more we contemplate it, the heavier it gets. But we have to believe that God will help us all
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has held inter-religious prayers to plead for protection and safety from the Almighty from various disasters that occur in Indonesia.

"God provides the best for us all. If God wills it, then the best will be provided for the entire nation," Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini noted during prayers at the Ministry's Office here on Tuesday.

During the prayers, Muslims were led by Secretary General from Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Armirsyah Tambunan. Those of other religions will be led by their respective religious leaders.

Rismaharini noted that this praying event was also conducted to ask God to give strength to disaster victims, volunteers, and medical workers who were affected and on the disaster sites, in order to complete their duties.

"The more we contemplate it, the heavier it gets. But we have to believe that God will help us all," she affirmed.

In addition, the minister also urged the people to help one another in order to alleviate the burden of victims who were affected by disasters.

Today, there are many people who do not care about disasters, in fact, there are many who violates religious norms, she noted.

"It is very concerning. During disasters, the longer we try to help, the more social problems appear, such as apathy towards the poor," she said.

Meanwhile, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake, which struck in the Flores Sea, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, has the potential to trigger a tsunami, according to officials.

"The earthquake occurred at 10.20 Western Indonesia Standard Time (WIB) about 112 kilometers (km) to the northwest of Larantuka Sub-district, NTT Province, at a depth of 12 km," Head of the Kupang City Geophysics Station Margiono announced here on Tuesday.
