The revision of the law is part of the preparations for the transfer of the capital city, he explained.
"It is planned that the capital of the central government will move to East Kalimantan, and of course, Jakarta has (its own) interest. After being relocated, (we hope) Jakarta becomes a city of business, trade, education, cultural arts, and others," Patria said at the Jakarta Legislative Assembly (DPRD) on Wednesday.
He further said he believed that Jakarta can still remain a major city after giving up its status as the capital city and the center of the Indonesian government.
"We hope that with the capital relocation to East Kalimantan, Jakarta can still be one of the big cities in the world. There are a lot of ex-capital cities in the world that remain existing and advanced," he affirmed.
The revised Law No. 29 of 2007 was initially submitted by the expert staff for institutional relations at the Ministry of National Development Planning/ National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Diani Sadia Wati.

Wati highlighted that the revised law is related to the transition of the Special Capital Region (DKI) status that is currently held by Jakarta.
"The Jakarta administration has submitted the bill of revision to Law No.29 of 2007," Wati announced at a working meeting with the Committee of National Capital (IKN) Bill in the parliament complex, Senayan at Jakarta on Monday (December 13, 2021).
The proposed primary changes to the law comprise the role of Jakarta Special Capital Region, its status as a special autonomous region, the level of government in the province, and its regional authority, she informed.
"Some main changes include DKI Jakarta's role as the center of the national economy, the permanent status of the special autonomous region, one level of government in the province, and the authorities on the sectors of the economy, investment, urban planning, and transportation," she said.
