Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin wished Christians a Merry Christmas 2021 and a Happy New Year 2022 to all.

"To my Christian brothers, who celebrate Christmas, I congratulate you, and I wish all of us a Happy New Year 2022," Vice President Amin noted here on Friday.

Amin expects all Christians to remain enthusiastic about celebrating Christmas even in the midst of a pandemic.

"Although this year's Christmas celebrations are still being held in the midst of a pandemic, I hope you all remain happy and in peace," he noted.

The vice president noted that Christmas and New Year celebrations are the right moments to gather with the family.

Hence, Amin appealed to all people to continue to strictly implement health protocols to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19.

"I urge you all, Indonesian people, to ask Allah SWT, the God Almighty, for protection, for us to be given the ability to overcome various challenges amidst uncertainty while continuing to implement health protocols," he explained.

The vice president also encouraged all religious communities in Indonesia to continue to increase tolerance and maintain harmony in order to maintain peace among religious believers.

"Let us continue to maintain harmony, raise awareness, and spread love and messages of peace. All of that unites us as brothers and sisters," the vice president said.
