(Officers in) the center will provide all information about immigration to foreign nationals (staying in Mandalika)
Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - Immigration information facilities will be provided for foreign tourists and participants of events at the Mandalika International Street Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara, an official of the province's Law and Human Rights Ministry office confirmed.

"(Officers in) the center will provide all information about immigration to foreign nationals (staying in Mandalika)," head of the province's Law and Human Rights Ministry office Haris Sukamto stated here on Monday.

Apart from providing information and responding to inquiries, the officers will also cater to foreign nationals that have to complete their immigration administration formalities, he noted.

"We have also encouraged owners of local hotels and homestays to report every foreigner staying in their premises to officers at the immigration center," the office head remarked.

Sukamto confirmed that the immigration center is established to help the authority complete the data of foreigners currently staying in Lombok Island during the MotoGP championship hosted at the Mandalika Circuit in February and March 2022.

The latest data in 2021 recorded some six thousand foreign nationals living on the island, with around four thousand of them holding a limited visit permit, he stated.

"Not all of the six thousand registered foreign nationals are residing in Lombok since the start, as some of them may have spent a month or two in Bali before moving to Lombok for a month," Sukamto noted.

The authority will also conduct joint supervision of foreign nationals with other institutions to ensure security and smoothness of events organised at the Mandalika Circuit, the office head remarked.

"The supervision will trace how many foreign nationals and where they live. Hence, if more foreigners come to Lombok, we can continue to log their origin and their place of stay," he remarked.

Sukamto pointed out that immigration monitoring will be extended to the MotoGP championship participants, including racers and other officials, that had arrived at the Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, Lombok, yesterday (Feb 7).

"It is reported that a total of 600 participants that boarded two flights from Malaysia (have arrived yesterday)," he added.
