The two residents had the initials M (46) and MR (48)Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Two COVID-19 patients succumbed to the disease in Tangerang, thereby bringing the death toll during the January-February 2022 period to six, according to the COVID-19 Task Force.
Spokesperson for the Tangerang COVID-19 Task Force, Hendra Tarmizi, remarked that the two COVID-19 patients, who died were the residents of Rajeg Sub-district, Tangerang District. He revealed in Tangerang on Tuesday.
"The other (deaths) were known five days back, but the reports have only (been received) now. The two residents had the initials M (46) and MR (48)," he remarked.
Tarmizi has yet to divulge details on whether the patient died due to the Delta or Omicron variant. Nonetheless, he confirmed that these two patients had succumbed to COVID-19.

"One of the patients who died was elderly, while the other was pre-elderly. They generally had comorbidities, and they had only been vaccinated once," he stated.
He pointed out that so far, Tangerang had recorded a total of 402 deaths inflicted by the deadly virus.
"In total, 402 people had died, and those who died were treated at the COVID-19 referral hospital," Tarmizi confirmed.
According to the spokesperson, 11,818 new active cases were reported, comprising both patients who underwent treatment at hospitals and those undergoing isolation at the facilities. The additional cases brought the total number of confirmed cases to 41,921.

In addition, 577 people made a recovery from COVID-19, thereby bringing the figure to 29,701 people, he concluded.
As of late, the Omicron variant of COVID-19 had been spreading across the country, thereby causing a spike in the rate of cases. According to several studies, Omicron is characterized by its ability to transmit faster as compared to its preceding variants. However, it was also less dangerous.
The Health Ministry has forecast that the peak of the Omicron outbreak would exceed the peak of Delta cases.
