"The State Capital (IKN) Law has been passed by the House, so I went to the location of state capital Nusantara to affirm that the House oversees the project implementation from the start," Maharani stated here on Wednesday.
The speaker will review several construction sites of Nusantara along with Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander General Andika Perkasa and Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
Furthermore, Maharani expressed keenness to observe first-hand the progress in development of IKN Nusantara while deeming it necessary to conduct direct inspections to view the condition of the country's new capital.
"This is also part of the House's efforts to fulfill the people's mandate," she stressed.
During the visit, Maharani was also accompanied by the House's Budgeting Agency Chairman Said Abdullah, House's Commission V Chairman Lasarus, and House's Commission I Vice Chairman Utut Adianto.
"We came to see the development of the Nusantara project. By supervising, we can give notes to the government," she elaborated.
From Balikpapan City in East Kalimantan, Maharani and the entourage will travel to the Sepaku Semoi Dam site in Penajam Paser Utara that is built for fulfilling water requirements in Nusantara.
The entourage will thereafter visit Menara Pandang and the location where the State Palace will be built. The House Speaker will also review the ground zero where the offices of high-ranking state institutions, including the House itself, will be located.
Maharani stressed that the community had been looking forward to the commencement of construction of Nusantara that will function as a smart city.
"The government must work as optimally as possible, such as by guaranteeing that the development of IKN always aligns with the interests of the local indigenous people. Nusantara, as the face of Indonesia's progression, must also be charming," Maharani concluded.
