Chief of the Mlati Branch of the National Kindergarten Teacher Association, Roidah, stated that as many as 700 kindergarteners were targeted under this vaccination program, with additional 200 elementary school kids who joined. She delivered the statement at the Pogung Lor Village Hall, Sleman, on Wednesday.
A congestion of sorts occurred at the location, as several elementary school students came to partake in the inoculation, though the activity went smoothly owing to the efforts of the committee and the COVID-19 Task Force.
According to Roidah, the city hall was chosen, as it large enough to accommodate many children, and its spaciousness allows for health protocols to be imposed and followed properly.
The vaccination is expected to offer protection to the kids against COVID-19, she emphasized.
The Yogyakarta State Intelligence Agency Vaccination Coordinator, Adi Riyanto, stated that they along with the Health Office would continue to push for vaccinations, including for children in the age bracket of six to 11 years, in a bid to cut down the number of cases of infection in the region.

"We are indeed putting in efforts to (boost) vaccination (rate) because it turns out that Omicron is spreading so rapidly. Hence, if we can (comply with) the health protocols and push for a higher vaccination rate, then the number of cases is expected to reduce, and the condition would end up for the better," Riyanto stated.
Riyanto's agency aims to deliver complete vaccine doses to the children by the end of February. Thereafter, they would focus on administering shots to children, who had yet to be vaccinated, whilst concurrently preparing vaccination programs for middle school and high school students.
