Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government is complying with the central government’s regulations on public activity restrictions (PPKM), the latest of which was announced on Monday, Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria has said.

"The PPKM level is determined by the central government and task force. We support and will comply with the various policies of the central government," he assured here on Monday.

The provincial government has not proposed Jakarta's PPKM level for the next two weeks, despite the fact that the overall bed occupancy rate (BOR) in the capital’s COVID-19 patient referral hospitals has reached 40 percent, he informed.

Out of the 6,837 beds at Jakarta's COVID-19 patient referral hospitals, 2,705 are occupied, he said.

Meanwhile, the intensive care units (ICU) at COVID-19 hospitals have been filled to 45 percent capacity, or 428 ICU rooms out of the total 943 have been filled, he added.

"There has been an increase. I urge the people to be more careful," the deputy governor said.

Confirmed cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Jakarta reached 4,799 as of February 27, 2022, he noted.

"And they are dominated by locally transmitted cases, which have reached 3,049 or 63.2 percent. The imported cases stand at 1,774 or 36.8 percent," he informed.

Patria urged Jakartans to remain alert while conducting activities outside of their homes and continuously prioritize the health protocols, such as maintaining a safe distance and wearing masks.

He also asked government officials to bolster monitoring and action against all kinds of health protocol violations in the capital city.

"We ask for increased enforcement by all officials against any type of violating business activities or other activities," he said.
