Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Greater Jakarta Regional Police will close several roads that will serve as the parade route for Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia racers on March 16, 2022, at 10:00-11:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

The roads are those surrounding the Merdeka Palace, West Medan Merdeka Road, the MH Thamrin Road, and streets around the Indonesia Kempinski Hotel Roundabout.

The activity aims to promote implementation of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.

"We will secure the route from the State Palace to Kempinski Hotel. The traffic lane will be closed when the tour group passes," Traffic Director of the regional police Senior Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo stated here on Tuesday.

Yogo noted that his side will only close the traffic lane leading from the palace to the roundabout. Meanwhile, the lane leading to the reverse direction will remain open.

Meanwhile, Head of the Operations Bureau of the regional police Senior Commissioner Marsudianto spoke that his side had readied 500 personnel to secure the parade route.

"We will also involve the regional government officers to manage the crowds coming to watch the parade," he remarked.

On the same occasion, Deputy Managing Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) Cahyadi Wanda stated that the racers will meet the president first before participating in the parade.

"It is planned that the president will meet the racers first. They will have breakfast together and talk briefly at the palace. At 10:00 a.m. WIB, the president will dispatch the racers for the parade while wishing them good luck for the race," he stated.

He also remarked that several MotoGP racers, such as Marc Marquez, Joan Mir, Francesco Bagnaia, and Jack Miller, will attend the parade.

In addition, some of the Moto2 and Moto3 racers will participate in the activity.

Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia will be held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province, on March 18-20, 2022.
