Recipients have received their award that proves that women could also offer their merit and contribute to the society around them
Jakarta (ANTARA) - First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Second Lady Wury Ma'ruf Amin, and Organisation of Solidarity Action of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet (OASE KIM) members presented awards to 514 Indonesian women for outstanding contributions in their fields.

"Recipients have received their award that proves that women could also offer their merit and contribute to the society around them," Iriana noted at the State Palace here on Thursday.

Iriana's remarks were made during the Kartini Day commemoration that was attended by members of the organisation that unites wives of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet ministers.

The organisation conferred awards to 514 women, who have made outstanding contributions to education, health, social and culture, environment, and agricultural sectors in their community.

The 514 awards refers to the total number of districts and cities in Indonesia, of which 10 award recipients from Jakarta and the remote and outermost regions were welcomed to receive the award personally at the State Palace.

Recipients of the award at the palace were Adriani Bawues of Bitung City, North Sulawesi, and Zubaidah T of South Aceh District, Aceh, that are awarded in the education category, and Yovita Mariati of Sikka District, Papua, and Kristina Sampa Tonapa of Pegunungan Bintang District, Papua, that are awarded for the health category.

Moreover, Siti Nurwati of Sambas District, West Kalimantan, and Yuliana Momo of Tambrauw District, West Papua, were awarded in the social and culture category; Wagiem of Ogan Komering Ulu District, South Sumatra, and Kezia Arabelle Tulalessy of Ambon, Maluku, awarded for the environmental category; and Sere Rohana Napitupulu of East Jakarta and Ni Putu Ari Sapta Dewi of Gianyar District, Bali, awarded for the agriculture category, all of whom also received their award at the State Palace.

"I wish to express our gratitude to all of you that are willing to travel from afar to Jakarta and are persistent to contribute in your own fields. I hope you, no matter old or young, will continue living to your spirit to contribute more," Iriana remarked.

In her report, OASE KIM Kartini Day commemoration event committee head Tri Tito Karnavian stated that this year's commemoration aims to ruminate over Kartini's spirit and struggle that inspired Indonesian women.

"(The commemoration is also) to motivate Indonesian women to contribute to the people, the nation, and the country," Karnavian noted.

After presenting the award, Iriana then conversed with Nur Aini, an award recipient from Merangin District, Jambi, that developed a maggot farm for fish and chicken feed in the last five years.

Moreover, Kezia Arabelle Tulalessy, an award recipient from Ambon, Maluku, expressed her gratitude for the award and the opportunity to converse with Iriana.

"Iriana told me to keep up our spirit because we are still young and continue to do our best for the country in the future," Tulalessy stated.
