We intervene in a policy that until 2023, there must be 25-percent female leadership in SOEsJakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir has said that he wants to see women occupying 25 percent of director posts in SOEs by the end of 2023.
The policy would be a form of ensuring gender equality in the work environment.
"We intervened in a policy that until 2023, there must be 25-percent female leadership in SOEs," Thohir informed at the launch of the Respectful Workplace Policy at the Telkom Hub Auditorium, here on Thursday.
The target is non-negotiable considering that the percentage of women who occupy director posts in global companies has now reached 30 percent, he added.

The policy being carried out in SOEs is a big and significant change, he noted. He further said that he wants the 'Flying high for achievement' slogan of the women employees' union in SOEs, called Srikandi BUMN, to become a common goal.
Many changes are driven by women, he said and expressed the hope that the policies that have been implemented by SOEs will create positive changes for state-owned companies, allowing them to contribute to the country's development.
"Strong women in SOEs are the nucleus of change. I want all aspects to realize our target," he remarked.

The minister also asked state-owned companies to maintain a comfortable working environment by ensuring gender equality with zero discrimination.
He said he believes a good working climate would have a positive impact on the results and performance of these companies. The comfort of the work environment will be in line with the company's business growth since the harmony that exists within SOEs is quite complex.
"We are trying to continue to improve this. We also encourage the number of women in SOEs to increase," he said in his closing statement.
