Jakarta (ANTARA) - The vision of 'Advanced Indonesia in 2045' can be realized if supported by adequate and excellent human resources, Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Laksana Tri Handoko has said.

"The vision of Advanced Indonesia in 2045 probably will not be achieved if Indonesia does not have adequate human resources," he said during a virtual commemoration of the anniversary of BRIN, hosted here on Thursday.

He noted that talents in development are needed to support the acceleration of Indonesia's efforts toward becoming a developed country by 2045. Excellent Indonesian human resources are expected to realize a leap of progress and change for Indonesia and improve people's welfare.

Handoko said that with the great potential of Indonesian youth, especially considering the demographic dividend in 2020–2045, Indonesia will be able to accelerate changes and development, especially related to the development of technology and the utilization of innovations.

To this end, BRIN invited all parties in the country to develop Indonesian human resources by utilizing science and technology.

Through the National Youth Research and Innovation Week held by the agency, Indonesian youth are being invited to become critical individuals who can take part in solving problems in society.

Then, in collaboration with the provincial government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), BRIN is aiming to develop young Indonesian talents in science.

The NTB provincial government, through the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (Brida), is currently focusing on developing human resources in the fields of science and technology.

One of the efforts made by NTB's BRIDA is sending 1,000 university students abroad to continue their studies.

BRIDA is a newly formed regional-level research and innovation agency initiated by BRIN. Currently, several other regions are developing their own BRIDA.

BRIN conducts scouting, identification, and development of young research and innovation talents through various science competitions, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. This scheme is hoped to foster young talents' interest in research.
