Hence, it needs a good breakthrough accompanied by a good vision, especially in an era full of uncertainty and instability like todayMalang, East Java (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy asked the entire academic community of the Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) to increase social sensitivity and values.
"Prayer for the public interest is often answered than to pray for yourself. Unfortunately, we pray more often for ourselves, that rarely do we offer prayers for the common good, such as advancing communities that are not prosperous," Effendy said when giving tausiyah and motivation speech in the "halal bihalal" gathering with the entire UMM academic civitas here, on Sunday.
Effendy said that Eid al-Fitr can be interpreted as returning to fitrah and holiness. So, when one is "clean", their prayers will be more easily granted by God, especially prayers that concern the public interest.
Therefore, he emphasized, in order to establish oneself as a devout, there is a need to pray for a larger scope.
Moreover, Effendy also discussed the challenges faced in the digital era, like how bad things are exploited and made a profit. For instance, he mentioned, there are some people who used to be no one who became famous due to actions that crossed the moral line.
Hence, Effendy invited the UMM academic community to be sure that the truth will come. While falsehood will be gone, thus making human life even better.
He also reminded the Putih Campus of UMM to not only focus on themselves and be smug. He said, when UMM is trying to progress, other universities also are doing the same thing.
"Hence, it needs a good breakthrough accompanied by a good vision, especially in an era full of uncertainty and instability like today," the minister said.
