Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has emphasized the importance of people’s willpower for realizing independence and economic advancement in addition to the government’s efforts to build the empowerment ecosystem.

“If the willpower is strong, the ways will be opened. I think that is the guidance. So, (it does not come) from anybody, but ourselves,” he said at the gathering of the Annawawi Tanara Islamic Boarding School (INSAN PENATA) in Serang, Banten, according to a press statement issued on Saturday.

Apart from willpower, unwavering effort is also needed for God’s help to come, he added.

To this end, Amin urged INSAN PENATA to work hand-in-hand for moving people’s economy smartly and thoroughly through joint planning and collaboration.

He also underlined the importance of maintaining friendship among the big family and alumni of the Islamic boarding school for the sake of advancement and the common good.

“The teacher-student relationship is not only about teaching, but also guiding, directing, even continues to be together not only in this world, but also in the hereafter,” he noted.

Meanwhile, INSANI PENATA chairman Mariyanto said that the existence of alumni who continue to maintain politeness and good manners is expected to concretely contribute to the boarding school and the community.

“I hope this gathering would facilitate us to gather and exchange ideas as well as make a positive contribution to the advancement of Annawawi Tanara Islamic Boarding School,” he remarked.
