Jakarta (ANTARA) - The second Health Working Group (HWG) Forum of G20 urges member countries to jointly build a strong and resilient global health system.

"Through the Second HWG, Indonesia invites G20 member countries to jointly commit to achieving a more permanent health system and a better supply of essential health (services)," G20 spokesperson for Health, Dr Siti Nadia Tarmizi, noted in a press release issued by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics on Thursday.

The HWG Forum is part of G20's Sherpa Track that is focused on the global health architecture by G20 member countries. This forum highlights the mobilization of financial resources to prevent, prepare, and respond to a pandemic in future.

Mobilization of health resources, such as essential medical devices and diagnostic tools for prevention, is deemed crucial.

The HWG event, held in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on June 6-7, resulted in global collective action to increase investment and support from various parties to strengthen the capacity of developing countries to prevent, prepare, and respond to future pandemics.

Tarmizi noted that a strong, resilient, sustainable, and equal global health system between countries required sound coordination and collaboration from G20 member countries.

Government spokesman for the G20 Presidency, Maudy Ayunda, in the same press release, affirmed that the realization of concrete action through global collective efforts in preventing, preparing, and responding to pandemics in the future is important for the community, especially the young generation of Indonesia.

"The young generation must prepare itself to continue to reform the global health architecture for the next generation. The effort to improve the global health architecture is a continuous progress," Ayunda stated.

Members of the young generation should pay attention, learn, and involve themselves in matters related to the global health architecture since this effort is important for the future, both for Indonesia and the world, she stressed.
