Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) becomes the standard that had been designed and will be unveiled on August 17, 2022Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin aims to have all digital-based health services in hospitals and public health centers (puskesmas) to be integrated with Aplikasi Sehat Indonesiaku (ASIK) no later than December 2023.
"Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) becomes the standard that had been designed and will be unveiled on August 17, 2022," he noted during the Health Technology Transformation Physical and Health Education Webinar on Friday.
By December 2023, all clinics, puskesmas, hospitals, laboratories, and pharmacies should comply with the FHIR standard, he stated.

The FHIR data model is a digital operation system to determine related resources and metadata, such as clinical contents and other related system information within a consistent, structured, and flexible modular format.
Health technology transformation in Indonesia will change all digital-based services at the level of puskesmas, such as Bluetooth utilization to measure body weight and height.
In addition, services in puskesmas are supported by the telehealth facility that can reach patients and support interactions with doctors regardless of the distance.
"The ministry will distribute medical ultrasonography (USG) equipment with remote feature. Thus, patients can connect to medical specialists in hospitals and can receive service through the smartphone," Sadikin remarked.
The remote and telehealth functions in puskesmas will be integrated with the ASIK system, both the laboratory services and diagnosis, he stated.
"All digital-based laboratories, starting from puskesmas for blood chemicals to small laboratories in posyandus (integrated health posts), such as rapid test kits for HB, COVID-19, dengue, and TBC, will use bar code," he noted.

"As a result, the function of puskesmas, as the commander of health, can be realized because it can be monitored digitally," he stated.
In addition to puskesmas, the FHIR operation system applies in hospital service facilities for standardization of the patients' medical records, the minister added.
"Diagnostic data in laboratories and clinics in hospitals will directly enter the PeduliLindungi application. It is because now, there are already 95 million users, and it is utilized by eight million people within a month," he remarked.
"PeduliLindungi became one of the biggest health applications in the world," he said.
The PeduliLindungi application, which is currently used to track COVID-19 cases, will also integrate data on blood test, CT scan, and MRA from patients, Sadikin noted.
