Jakarta (ANTARA) - Passing the curation process for the National Creation Award (AKI) 2022 was not an easy feat for participants, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno has said.

"It is not easy to pass the curation process to be able to show up here. Later, the winner will be sent to Jakarta as part of (the preparation for the) G20 Summit," the minister informed at the National Creation Award event in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, according to an official statement received here on Monday.

There is always a chance for people with an undying spirit, who never once give up, the minister remarked and urged Pontianak people, including creative economy players, to never give in to the situation and gather the courage to start building their enterprise.

He cited the example of Kusima, one of the event's finalists. Kusima, an elder with physical limitations, is making eco print products.

"We pursue tourism and we much prepare creative economy products. It is expected that these creative efforts of these MSME (micro, small, and medium enterprise) players could lead to export products," the minister said.

He further said he expected the Pontianak National Creation Award to help promote and develop the creative economy.

"We are optimistic after seeing the enthusiasm from creative economy players and MSMEs in West Kalimantan to participate in the bootcamp for three days, and the showcase of products at National Creation Award 2022, which has become a platform for the promotion and development so the products have more competitive value," he added.

The National Creation Award sought to improve the creative economy through capacity improvement as well as serve as a showcase for creative economy players in the culinary, art, fashion, application, film, and music subsectors.

As many as 27 tourism and creative economy players participated in the program. They comprised 20 finalists from the culinary, art, fashion, and application subsectors, and 7 from the film and music subsector.
