Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari Moerdijat has pushed for a continuous increase in national productivity and the effective use of existing resources to realize economic growth amid the threat of global crises.

"Efforts to accelerate economic growth by increasing productivity and effective use of our resources are very important amid the threat of energy and food crises experienced by many countries in the world," she said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.

According to Moerdijat, in May this year, the Minister of Finance, during a working meeting with the Budget Agency of the House of Representatives (DPR), revealed that to boost productivity, the 2023 state budget will focus on health, social protection, education, and infrastructure.

She lauded the government's steps to strengthen the development of several basic sectors that, in the past two years, have been affected by the pandemic and the global crisis.

"However, the threat of the current global crisis must really be answered by increasing community productivity and the effective use of the resources that we have," she said.

According to the deputy speaker, by guaranteeing the fulfillment of basic needs, it is expected that the community will continue to increase productivity.

Therefore, she said that various opportunities to work and conduct business must be opened and created so that the community can contribute optimally to boosting economic growth.

"Aside from that, the potential of new markets for domestically produced goods and services must be explored immediately to anticipate changes that occur," she suggested.

The MPR deputy speaker expressed the hope that the threat of the global crises will help increase the resilience of Indonesia's national economy by increasing creativity in creating new sources of economic growth.

She opined that it is necessary to focus the energy and creativity of the people to find and create as many opportunities as possible to grow in order to respond to the challenges presented by the global crises.
