Kupang, NTT (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has said that he expects the Exotic Weaving Fest (ETF) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province to be held regularly to generate positive impacts for weaving businesses.

"The Exotic Weaving Fest is expected to be held every year, thus it can provide a multiplier effect for weaving entrepreneurs as well as tourism and creative industry (actors) in NTT," he said in his virtual remarks at the opening of the 2022 ETF here on Friday.

He lauded the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) in NTT province and the local government for taking the initiative to implement the 2022 ETF, which is themed “Weaving Products of NTT Goes to Cities Life.”

The event reflects the enthusiasm to promote NTT woven products among the community as daily lifestyle items, Uno noted.

He then invited all parties in the province to help make the 2022 ETF, which is showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of products from various parts of NTT province, a success.

Through the activity, traditional works of weaving, which form a part of the ancient heritage of NTT residents, can be preserved and developed as part of national cultural excellence with the spirit of Proud of Indonesia-made Products (BBI), he added.

Furthermore, he also asked stakeholders to continue collaborating for advancing the tourism sector in the province through woven fabric products.

"Let's implement the 3G together: ‘gercep,’ (which means) to move quickly; ‘geber,’ (which means) to move together; and ‘gaspol,’ (which means) to optimize all potentials, thus the wealth of NTT weaving (products) can be more acknowledged globally," he remarked.

Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Minister Teten Masduki as well as Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti also delivered their remarks virtually at the opening of the event.

Meanwhile, the Governor of NTT, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, directly inaugurated the event, which took place at Lippo Plaza Kupang, Kupang city, NTT province.
