Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cases of the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants of Omicron in Java-Bali have already hit their peak and have experienced a downward trend in the past several weeks, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has informed.

"Every week, we observe the trend. While there have been case surges, the rise from week to week has already declined," he said during a Commission IX Opinion Hearing Meeting (RDP), which was streamed on YouTube on Tuesday.

Data has shown that the positive rate trend as well as the hospital occupancy of BA.4 and BA.5 patients have also experienced a decline compared to six weeks ago, he informed.

The number of cases in Java-Bali has almost entirely declined. Meanwhile, outside of Java-Bali, it has shown a relative rise, but is nominally lower.
