It has been extended.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) has extended the detention of suspects in the premeditated murder of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, or Brigadier J, by another 40 days.

"It has been extended," director of general criminal offenses at Bareskrim, Brigadier General Andi Rian Djajadi, said at the National Police housing complex in Duren Tiga, South Jakarta, where the murder scene was reconstructed on Tuesday.

The suspects will be detained for another 40 days after their first detention period of 20 days ends, he informed.

As per the law, investigators can detain suspects for 20 days after naming them. In the Brigadier J murder case, the investigators named Second Agent Richard Eliezer as a suspect on August 4, 2022, Chief Brigadier Ricky Rizal and Chief Brigadier Kuat Ma'ruf as suspects on August 6, and Ferdy Sambo as a suspect on August 9.

Their detention has been extended since the dossiers on the three suspects handed over to the public prosecutor have been deemed incomplete, either formally or materially.

The Attorney General's Office is expected to return the first phase of case dossiers to investigators on September 1.

"The case dossiers (P-19) will be returned on Thursday," chief of the Legal Information Center at the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana, said.

While investigators have also named Putri Candrawati, Sambo's wife, as the fifth suspect, she has not been detained.

Eliezer, Rizal, and Ma'ruf are currently being detained at Bareskrim's detention house at the National Police Headquarters, while Sambo is being detained at the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Command Station in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java.
