He made the remarks virtually at the IPB’s 59th anniversary event at the Graha Widya Wisuda Building, Bogor, West Java, on Thursday.
"This is the right momentum for IPB to stand at the forefront of solving agricultural food problems in our country," he said.
In response to the current challenges, he urged IPB to improve food innovation, educational adaptation, and research on zoonoses.
First, he tasked IPB with developing agro-maritime research to produce appropriate innovations to build and support a resilient food system. Second, he asked it to expand the distribution of food innovation across Indonesia and increase partnerships with stakeholders, including the government, farmers, and industries.
Third, he asked it to develop contemporary and adaptive curricula by developing new knowledge that is relevant to current and future needs, such as bioinformatics and biomedicine, nanoscience and technology, and so on.
The fourth assignment given to IPB by the President was to prepare early warnings to deal with zoonoses, and the fifth was to strengthen synergy with the industry in terms of research and its utilization and make the campus a bridge to the industrial world.
"We must keep studying science, develop it to reduce the threat that dangers human health," he said.
Furthermore, he lauded IPB for producing a lot of quality research that is needed by the community.
"Therefore, continue to strengthen commitment and innovation to become a productive and trusted university. A university that is based on agriculture, maritime, and tropical bioscience, and the foremost in realizing food sovereignty and people's welfare," the President said. (
