Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that the distribution of direct cash assistance (BLT) for the transfer of subsidy on fuel (BBM) will be conducted across all districts and cities in Indonesia next week.

"Today, the distribution of BLT BBM in Lampung Province has begun, and it will continue," he stated here on Saturday while reviewing the distribution of the assistance.

The president assessed that the distribution of aid had so far gone well and smoothly.

"I see that it (the aid disbursement) has been running. Generally, the (distribution) system has been implemented well," he remarked.

In addition to Bandar Lampung City, Lampung Province, the president visited Jayapura District, Papua Province, and Tanimbar Islands District, Maluku Province, to review the disbursement of assistance.

The government distributed several forms of social assistance to anticipate the impact of increasing fuel prices.

The central government allocated Rp12.4 trillion to provide BLT BBM for 20.65 million families. Each beneficiary will receive a total of Rp600 thousand that will be distributed twice by state-run postal company PT Pos Indonesia (Persero).

The central government also provides Rp9.6 trillion for wage subsidy assistance to 16 million workers whose maximum salary is Rp3.5 million per month. The aid given by the government to each worker will also be Rp600 thousand.

Furthermore, the central government has urged local governments to allocate two percent of the general transfer fund that includes general allocation funds (DAU) and revenue sharing funds (DBH) worth Rp2.17 trillion to provide transportation subsidies and additional social protection to the people in their respective regions.

In addition to reviewing the distribution of BLT BBM, Jokowi handed over working capital assistance worth Rp1.2 million to the traders and street vendors in Pasir Gintung Market, Bandar Lampung City.
