Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) is committed to strengthening Indonesia's role in UN peacekeeping missions with the new Formed Police Unit (FPU) to carry out the missions of MINUSCA-Central Africa or MINUSMA in Mali.

"The National Police particularly is currently deploying one contingent of FPU's Garbha (Garuda Bhayangkara) Task Force for the MINUSCA (United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic) mission, which consists of 140 personnel and 41 IPO (Individual Police Officer spread across MONUSCO (United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in DR Congo), MINUSCA, UNMISS (United Nations Mission in South Sudan), and MINUSMA (United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali) missions," Polri's Chief of the Public Information Bureau Brig. Polri's commitment to contributing to UN peacekeeping was conveyed at the third United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS 2022 Summit III), which was held from August 31 to September 1 at the UN Headquarters, and was attended by ministers, police chiefs, and senior representatives of regional and professional policing organizations.

Ramadhan said that the summit discussed and contextualized the role of the United Nations Police's Action for Peacekeeping (A4P) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

There were three important issues discussed at the meeting, notably the real action for peacekeeping (A4P) and A4P+; the common agenda and the 2030 agenda and the role of the United Nations Police; and the required performance, ability, and mindset that the UN Police personnel must have.

"The Police Peacekeeping Training Center will hold the UN Certified Instructor Development course for the ASEAN region on November 28-December 16, 2022," he said.

At the 2022 UNCOPS Summit III, the Polri sent a five-member delegation led by Chief of International Relations Division Inspector General Johni Asadoma.
