During a discussion themed "Meaningful Collaboration for Empowered Primary Health Service" held online on Thursday, Sadikin highlighted that the government will reform 300 thousand posyandus across Indonesia.
These posyandus will cater to all age groups, right from infancy, childhood, teenage years, to adulthood, and the elderly category as a precautionary measure against communicable diseases, he remarked.
Sadikin underlined that posyandus will have several promotional and preventive basic services at the village level.
In addition, the Ministry of Health will rename posyandus to prime posyandus, he remarked.
This will be legalized under the Minister of Home Affairs' Decision, so that the Village Fund can be utilized to fund health service, he stated.
Posyandus and Public Health Centers (Puskesmas) will also be able to perform health screening, including the Congenital Hypothyroidism Screening (SHK), he added.
The SHK is a screening undertaken on newborn infants to identify those suffering from congenital hypothyroidism.
The ministry will also revitalize the laboratory starting from the level of puskesmas as part of the efforts to transform health service, Sadikin noted.
Reflecting on the lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic, the government deems it necessary to have in place a screening laboratory to examine the disease status in a person's body.
On the occasion, the minister also said that every examination in the primary service will be integrated with PeduliLindungi.
"With this, head of puskesmas or office will know what the condition of the population looks like. They have to know the standard for the public's health condition," he explained.
